This is a short post on how to capture your ideas for blog posts.  If you are anything like me, you’ll find that some days are more inspiring than others, i.e. one day you’ll have tons of ideas floating around in your head, and other days you’ll struggle to even think about your overall blogging subject, let alone ideas for individual blog posts!

This is a common occurence for bloggers alike, the key is to capture your ideas for blog posts on your more productive days.  This should help you to ‘ride out’ the days when your creative juices aren’t flowing freely.

I have a simple word document set up entitled ‘blog post ideas’, which I keep open while I’m in front of the compuiter.  If an idea pops into my head for a blog post, I’ll quickly switch to the document and jot down my thoughts.

Over the course of a week, I’ll usually have around a dozen different ideas for blog posts, which I can formulate over the course of the next few days.  This ensures that, whenever I’m feeling unproductive in terms of blogging subjects, I have a ‘bank’ of blogging posts which I can refer to.  This saves me when my mind draws a blank!

Taking this method a step further, if you’re away from your computer for any reason (I know, who’s ever away from their computer apart from when asleep?!?) take a quick note of it.  If you suddenly think of a great idea for a blog post, then write it down (if you’ve not got a pen handy, blood will do it) to make sure you don’t forget it.  I’ve had ideas for blog posts while lying in bed at night, and think to myself “I’ll need to remember that one!”, but lo and behold, by morning the idea has completely gone.  Sound familiar anyone?

So make sure you don’t lose any of those inspirational thoughts, jot down your ideas for blog posts as and when they appear, whether it be by means of a word document or good old-fashioned pen and paper!  Both will do the job!
