“Quality blog content should be the cornerstone of your blog.“

I’ll say it again, but this time I’ll shout just in case you missed it the first time:

“Quality blog content should be the cornerstone of your blog.”

It’s became clear to me that, through browsing various online communities, there is an obsession with ‘easy answers’.  Typical questions people are asking include the following:

 

• “How can I get traffic to my blog fast?“
• “How do I increase my Google Pagerank?“
• “When will I get indexed in the search engines?“
• “How do I get the number one position with Google for my keywords?“

What is the one, common requirement which will answer all of the above?  Creating quality blog content for your blog!  If your blog content is of a good standard, and your audience enjoy reading it, the following will happen:

• You’ll get traffic to your blog;
• Eventually your backlinks will increase, your readership will grow and your Pagerank will increase;
• The search engines will reach your blog and index your blog content / posts / pages;
• Your posts may reach the number one position within the search engines for your keywords.

As a little exercise, the next time you’re browsing an online forum, or reading the comments section within someone blog posts, see how many times people are asking questions like the ones listed above.  And count how many you can answer by saying “create quality blog content”.

 

Here’s a little hypothetical scenario I hope you’ll let me indulge in!  Imagine a blog out there which is the most successful blog ever, and has:

• A Google Pagerank of 10;
• Thousands of subscribers;
• Rank No.1 in Google for all of it’s keywords;
• A million daily unique visitors;

Now, imagine one day, when this blog is at the peak of its success, the owner suddenly pulled all of his blog content and replaced it with sub-standard content which no-one wants to read.  How long do you think that blog would take to lose its position as a top quality, high traffic, successful blog?  My guess is not very long.  The thing that got the blog to where it was in the first place was the blog content.

 

People will only visit a blog if there if something worth reading.  Creating quality blog content will ensure that eventually you will attract the audience for your blog which you deserve.  Of course, you must maintain an interest in promoting your blog through the normal avenues, but you must focus the majority of your efforts on creating quality blog content.  If you can nail this aspect, everything else will follow.
