An Introduction To Project Wonderful - Part 2
Following on from my original Introduction To Project Wonderful, which looked at it from a publishers point of view, here is another look at the advertising application. This time though, I will look at Project Wonderful from the point of view of the advertiser.
Before my blog was born (ah those care-free days!!) I used Project Wonderful as a means of promoting my girlfriends Etsy store. I created a small number of banners (the 125 x 125 square banner type) based on her photgraphs of her store items. I then logged into my Project Wonderful account and searched for websites which had ad space available.
Because Project Wonderful is a fairly new concept, there are a growing number of blogs and websites that are providing ad space. This means it’s possible to place your ad within these spaces for really low prices, or even for free! I found a small number of websites which were related to my girlfriends niche, and added the ads I’d created to them. The most I was paying for one of my ads was around $0.05 per day, which isn’t too bad in itself, but the majority of my ads were costing me around two or three cents a day, and one or two were free.
So I was spending around 20 cents a day to promote an Etsy store on a number of different (but related) websites. Granted, the traffic levels were not high for my ads, but by targeting complimenting websites, there was a higher chance of someone clicking through my ad. I can’t remember the exact figures, but I think my overall cost per click ratio was around the 2 cent mark. Try setting up a Google Ad with a cost per click of $0.02 in the jewellery niche, and I guarantee you’ll struggle! So using Project Wonderful as an advertising medium was a worthwhile and low cost method of promoting a website for me.
One great aspect of using Project Wonderful for promotion is that you can use the funds you’ve made as a publisher to spend on your advertising. This means that, with a little bit of searching on your part, it’s entirely feasible to promote your blog on several different websites, using the funds you’ve made from publishing Project Wonderful ads on your blog. Advertising doesn’t come any better than free!!
Hopefully you’ve enjoyed my introduction to Project Wonderful from an advertisers perspective, and are now ready to use the advertising medium to promote your blog. If you’ve had any kind of experience with Project Wonderful (positive or otherwise) I’d be happy to hear about it, so please feel free to leave a comment below!
