Is posting your picture on your blog an important factor in your blog’s success? When I’m reading other people’s blogs online, I like to see who is behind that blog. I especially like to see a picture of the person behind the blog. Why?

Well, if I see a picture of the person who updates the blog, I feel I am more likely to identify with what he or she is blogging about. I think it’s much easier to build trust between you and your readers if they can see a picture of you, and can read a little bit about you.

It also creates a level of trust between you and your avid fans! Look upon it as a statement of intent on your behalf. You’re telling your readers “Here I am, I’m confident enough to show my picture on my blog and tell you a little bit about myself, and I’m proud to associate my picture with my blog content”. It acts as a self-seal of approval, i.e you’re telling yourself AND your readers that you’re proud of your blog.

I understand that when you first start your blog, there may be a certain level of apprehension about posting your picture on your blog. It’s a little nerve-wracking at first, and you may be thinking, “My God, ANYBODY can see who I am, I don’t want that, that’s just too freaky!!” I feel the same way about it! But the positives of posting your picture on your blog will far outweigh any small niggles you may have about showing your face off to the blogging world!
