Google Pagerank - What’s Yours?

I’ve read quite a bit about Google Pagerank on different blogs and websites recently, and it’s clear that a lot of people place a high emphasis on it. Personally, I think sometimes people place too much importance on their Google Pagerank, and that if you have a valuable blog or website then your Pagerank will increase naturally.

Google assigns a Pagerank to every website (indeed, every url) on the net, and as a general rule, the higher your Pagerank, the higher your blog or website will feature within their search engine.

The methods Google use to assign a Pagerank to different blogs and websites is shrouded in secrecy and hearsay, but I’d imagine that by building your blog, creating good blog content and increasing your quality incoming links, your Pagerank will increase steadily over time.

The Google Pagerank scale goes from 0 to 10, with 10 being the highest Pagerank a website can get. Funnily enough, the website Google.com scores a Pagerank of 10….

My blog hasn’t been assigned a Pagerank as yet, but as time goes by and my blog develops, I would imagine it will finally reach a Pagerank of 1, then 2, then 3 etc etc (if I work hard and am lucky!!).

Here is a link to a handy little tool that tells you the Google Pagerank of any blog or website on the internet, it’s interesting to see the different Pageranks for the types of places I visit on the net, have a look and play around with it (opens in a new window):

I suppose the moral of this post is – Don’t place too much importance in your Google Pagerank, just concentrate on your blog development and the Google Pagerank will take care of itself.
