Google Adsense On Your Blog - How Many Ads Should I Use?
Using Google Adsense on your blog can be a great way to make a little money from your blog. Here’s how Google Adsense works in a nutshell:
- Sign up with Google Adsense;
- Place the code generated by Google into your blog;
- Someone clicks on an ad within your blog;
- You make money!
You may only make a few cents per click depending on the type of Google Ads displayed on your blog, but if you have a good level of traffic passing through your blog, then the potential is there for you to make a few dollars a month (or more) from something which you enjoy doing anyway!
Since my blog is less than a couple of months old, I don’t have high levels of traffic yet, but if and when my reader base increases then I can expect to make a nice little side income from Google Adsense. It’s not going to make me rich, but a few dollars a month is better in my pocket than out of it!
So how many Google Ads should you place on your blog? The answer to that is “How long is a piece of string?”. There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to using Google Ads, whatever works for you may not work for someone else. I’d say experimentation is key, if you can find a good mix of content and Google Ads, then go with it. My blog isn’t set up with the primary goal of making money, I want people to visit my blog to read my posts. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t interested in making money from my blog as a nice bonus, but first and foremost I enjoy writing content and watching my blog grow.
You’ll see I have Google Ads in different areas of my blog. The background and text colour of the Google Ads blend in with the overall blog theme. We’ve all been on blogs and websites which are cluttered with too many ads and not enough content, to me this takes the enjoyment out of blog surfing, and feels like the ads are screaming “Click me, click me, click me!!!”.
So if you’re looking to put Google Adsense on your blog, try to make sure you achieve a good blend of ads and content, as this will create a more enjoyable surfing experience for your avid fans!
