Plugboards
I’ve noticed that a lot of blogs have ‘plugboards’ on them, where bloggers can leave a little button on someone else’s blog. The button is basically a small advertisement for your own blog, typically measuring 88 pixels wide by 31 pixels tall. I think it’s a great way to get your blog some exposure, so my next task is to create a plugboard button and then display it on other peoples blogs.
The whole process of ‘plugging’ goes something like this:
1. Create your own superfunky plug button using software such as Paint, Editor, or alternatively find a website that creates buttons for you!
2. Upload your button to the internet. This is required as your button has to be located on a server, as when you use a plugboard you have to enter the web address where the button is located. I’m using my girlfriend’s flickr account (http://www.flickr.com/) to store my button, haha cheeky!
3. Find blogs (related to your own blog in terms of subject matter) where there is a plugboard. Enter the web address of your button, and the link where you want the button to point to (in my case it would be http://watchmebuildtraffic.com/ .
4. Repeat Step 3 as many times as you can possibly stand!
For more information on plugboards, go to my article entitled An Introduction To Plugboards.
Depending on the size of other blogs’ plugboards, you may have to go through this process once or twice a week. Every time you enter your button on a plugboard, someone elses button ‘drops off’. For example, if I put my plug button on a plugboard which has space for 20 buttons, once another 20 people after me entered their button, mine would drop off. My plan is to set aside half an hour or so twice a week, to plug my blog on other plugboards.
On a side note, I’ll be adding a plugboard to my blog in the near future, when (if?) there’s concrete evidence that anyone actually visits!!

…And to get visitors returning, it’d be common sense to have a plugboard yourself.
Why not try http://www.plugme.net ? It’ll work fine with blogger/blogspot while most others will not.
=)
Thanks for the comment!
I plan on placing a plugboard on my blog, only consideration being when (refer to original post).
