Pinging Your Blog
There’s a lot to be said for pinging your blog. But first, what do I mean when I say ping your blog? Well, imagine there was a quick and easy way to inform dozens of different websites that you’ve created a new post? That would be a good way to bring attention to your blog, yes?
Happily, there is a great way to do this! Once I have published this post, I will head on over to Pingoat, where I can use their free service to ping my blog, to let other blog directories know that I have new content within my blog. It’s simply a case of filling in the fields with your blog name, blog url and XML feed (which is optional). Once you’ve submitted these details, Pingoat will automatically begin pinging your blog url to many of the large blogging websites, like Technorati, Newsgator etc.
This informs the many different web services that you’ve updated your blog, and these different services will crawl your blog for the updated info and display it on their pages. Cool, huh?
Every time you update your blog, you can go back and keep pinging your blog, keeping your blog at the forefront of different websites.
