Blogpatrol.com
See the little green counter above the ‘Blog Archive’ section on the right? That’s the cool widget which I signed up for from blogpatrol.com. It’s just a case of signing up at their website (http://www.blogpatrol.com/) and choosing the type of counter you want displayed on your blog.
I haven’t had any traffic to my blog yet (sniff sniff) so I don’t have any first-hand experience of the statistics this little baby can throw out. However, once you’ve had some virtual footfall, log in to your account at blogpatrol, and it’ll provide some really great info, such as:
Hourly, daily and weekly statistics:
Referrer data (i.e. where are your blog visitors coming from):
Keywords which people are using to find your site:
Which countries your blog visitors are coming from:
And more………..
Using the ‘Top 10 Keywords” section when you log in to blogpatrol, you can gather some really useful information. If there is a certain keyword people are using to find your blog, then you could use that keyword a lot more liberally within your blog posts. This will ensure that, when the search engines come crawling (in my opinion, a beautiful play on words), they will pick up on your most-used keywords, and, hopefully, propel you higher up the search engine rankings for that keyword.
Also, blogpatrol can be used to see which hours of the day are the busiest for your blog in terms of traffic.
Or the fact that you can tell which countries your visitors are coming from, that’s pretty cool! I live in Scotland, but if people from Peru are visiting my blog, that’s quite an achievement!
All in all, a great little program to insert in your blog, and at the best price of all… free!!
