An Ode To Blogging

Start a blog, post to win,
Monetize and reel it in,
Live a life of luxury,
Exactly how hard can it be?

Write new posts, add the links,
“This will reel them in!” methinks,
Optimistic, here I’m sat,
“Quit my job in six months flat!”

Submitted to search engines all,
When will those damn spiders crawl?
Days, weeks, months, a year?
Never will, it would appear!

Choose a subject, write your post,
“Google will love this!” I boast,
SEO optimization,
Such a source of consternation!

Sleepless nights, bleary eyes,
Connected by invisible ties,
In front of the screen he sits,
Dreaming of a million hits.

This was meant to be so easy,
Still no traffic, feeling queasy,
Losing interest, lost all hope,
“What’s the point, I’m such a dope!”

Sitting here I say to thee,
“Where can all the traffic be?”
Patience is the biggest key,
My blog is fairly new, you see.
